The Sun-Safe Gap I Couldn't Believe No One Had Filled
When my daughter was born, I assumed there would be plenty of full-body, breathable, sun-safe outfits for babies in Australia... especially with how intense our UV levels are. But I was wrong.
Everything I found either:
- left her legs exposed,
- was made from thick, sweaty fabric,
- or overheated her in the North Queensland sun.
Babies under six months shouldn’t wear sunscreen at all. Toddlers fight the reapplication battle. And babies can burn in minutes, even when it’s cloudy.
Every outing felt stressful.
I remember one moment clearly: sitting on the boat with my daughter on my lap, constantly readjusting muslin cloths and towels just to keep her covered. And I thought:
“Why isn’t there an outdoor onesie that covers everything and keeps them cool?”
So… I made one.
Designing the UV Defender Onesie, As a Mum First
I didn’t come from manufacturing. I didn’t know the “right way” to build apparel. I just knew what parents needed... because I needed it.

Little Fisho began during my maternity leave. While my baby napped I answered emails, designed patterns and packed orders. I never set out to start a business, I just wanted to protect my daughter.
But when other parents began reaching out saying, “This is exactly what we’ve been looking for,” I realised I wasn’t the only one struggling.
